I just had coffee in The Groove, a local, independent coffee shop off Locust Grove, in the west side of the Fred Meyer parking lot.
The Groove is now owned by Kolby Fuller, a 2009 graduate of Meridian High School. Kolby will be a new voter in the May 19 school board election. Why?
Because he realized HIS VOTE ACTUALLY COUNTS in a school board election. He will be able to look at the totals and 'see' his vote, unlike the thousands and millions of votes cast in state and national elections, the school board candidate will win by margins less than 100.
"I want to be part of that!" Kolby said.
I want him to be part of it, too.
Kolby fashioned a mocha coffee for me and swirls a message in the foam: "Vote Russ".
Thanks, Kolby.
It was the best coffee I ever had!
